1 - Do you have support for Linux?
We currently do not have are own support for Linux. But we have 3rd party supplier that have Linux support. Please connect them directly. See our Third Party Support page for their links

2 - I bought your USB LS IO chip and assembled it, but Windows does not see the device?
If Windows does not see the USB device in the Windows Device Manager or it is listed as an 'Unknown device' then you have a hardware problem. Most likely you have assembled the circuit incorrectly. Most common errors are; Reserved D+/D- (green/white) wires, 7.5K 1% resistor on incorrect pin, Missing +5Volts or Ground, and VPP pin not tied to ground.

3 - How many I2C slave devices can be placed on the I2C bus on the 802x00 Chips?
This depends on what I2C devices are placed on the I2C bus. Currently the I2C ports are on port 0 winch is a lower powered port(only 1.5ma). If you find you need more power to drive the bus add a current driver to your circuit or contact us and we can supply the same chip with the I2C pins on port 1, of which can supply 20ma.

4 - How does the RS232 function work?
The RS232 function supports the standard EIA-RS232 protocol. You will need a RS232 level shifter chip to convert the 5 volt signals to the RS232 standards voltage levels. See the USBRS232.pdf for the schematic. With the USBIODS chips the baud rate is fixed at 2400 bps. The data is transmitted out serially on the TX pin, and received in to the chip on the RX pin. CTS pin in an output pin and indicates when the input RX buffer is ready to received data. Using CTS is optional, but recommended. See the USB I/O RS232 software example for programming help.

5 - Can the manufacture and product names in the driver and firmware be changed to a customers name?
Yes, for a one time fee of $300(USD) we can change all the driver and firmware's manufacture and product name's to your company and product names. This process also includes assignment of an unique USB PID (Product ID Number) and GUID number that would only be assigned to you. See 800020

6 - Can your USBIODS chips be used as a USB host?
No, our USB chip can only be used as the USB peripheral. Take a look at Philips ISP1362 chip, it can be used as both a USB host or peripheral.

7 - What clock rate does the I2C functions support and is it the I2C host or slave?
The USBIODS chip supports the 100KHz clock rate and is the I2C Host.

8 - Do you plan to come out with a higher speed chip?
Yes, we our working on a high speed USB device now and hope to have it available in the near future.

9 - Do your USB chips support USB2.0 & if not will it run on a USB2.0 host?
The USBIODS chip are USB1.1 Low Speed Devices. But they will run on a USB2.0 host.

10 - Do you have distributors outside the US?
We do not have distributors outside the US, but we do ship internationally.

11 - Windows XP Blue Screen BugCheck 0x7E
This blue screen bugcheck is due to an error in Windows XP. To resolve this issue download Windows XP service pack 2 (or greater) from www.microsoft.com

12 - What types of payments do you accept?
We accept major credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, Amex and Discover), Check drawn in US funds, Money Orders and banks transfers ( $25 fee for bank transfers). We do not accept PayPal as a form of payment.

13 - USB driver will not load under XP or Vista?
Download latest USB driver with INF file fix at Windows Drivers
